Summit Entertainment executive Erik Feig invited to become a member of the Academy
Of the 134 artists and executives recently invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, only 8 were executives. Erik Feig, President of Production and Acquisitions for Summit Entertainment, was one of them.
Alongside Daniel D.A. Battsek (Miramax), Steve Beeks (Lionsgate), Graham W. Burke (Village Roadshow, Ltd.), Joe Drake (Ghost Pictures), Paul Hanneman (20th Century Fox), Donald P. Harris, and Claudia Lewis, Feig has been invited to join the 2009 roster of voters for the Academy Awards.
According to the press release,
“These filmmakers have, over the course of their careers, captured the imagination of audiences around the world,” said Academy President Sid Ganis. “It’s this kind of talent and creativity that make up the Academy, and I welcome each of them to our ranks.”
Feig's production history includes films such as Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and he is currently the executive producer for Red and Letters To Juliet.
Summit Entertainment is the studio responsible for Twilight and its sequels The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, as well as forthcoming Robert Pattinson film Remember Me.
Congratulations are in order for Mr. Feig for this excellent honor.
